What is this game?
WARPSPACE the GAME is a two player arcade style game. It requires that you
give a copy of this software to your friend. You and your friend must
both have modems. You can then play by running either e1host.exe or
e1user.exe while he runs the other program. One of you will first run
e1host.exe then the other runs e1user.exe and your computers become connected
by the programs through your modems and the phone system. You are then
able to fly around in your individual space ship and kill your buddy, if
he doesn't get you first that is. If he does you can always send him a
nasty one liner (messaging is supported).
WARPSPACE really is a very simple game. What makes it fun is the fact that
you are playing against another human not a computer, after all wouldn't
you expect the creator of a thing to be even more interesting as a
challenger than the thing itself?

All Rights Reserved
It is vitally important that you remember the keys on the keyboard repeat
when held depressed.
MOVMENT
Up Arrow = Faster
Down Arrow = Slower
Right Arrow = Clockwise
Left Arrow = Counter Clockwise
Lower Case j = Hyperspace Jumps
Hyperspace Jumps can be achieved when you are very near
a star. You must fly into the star along the heading
which you wish to jump. You must be flying between
about velocity 4 and velocity 12. When you think you are
near enough to the star you press lower case j to attempt
the jump. Be advised it is possible to collide with the
star and jumps use lots of fuel and create lots of heat.
DEFENSES
Upper Case C = Cloak ON/OFF
Keypad Plus = Raise Shields by 10 percent.
Keypad Minus = Lower Shields by 10 percent.
NAVIGATION
Divide Sign = Star Map
The Star Map is a view of all the stars in the galaxy.
It is usefull for locating opponents and navigation.
Only Ships and Stars are displayed on this screen.
Greater Than = System Map
The System Map allows you to watch all the space in a
solar system. Only Stars, Planets, and Ships are
visible on this map.
Less Than = Tactical Map
Tactical is the only display which makes torpedos
visible. It is the display for combat.
WEAPONS
Weapons must be aimed BEFORE they are fired. There are
two ways to aim weapons. The first way is by using the
keys q, w, e, a, d, z, x, and c. Notice how these keys
form a rhombus on the keyboard. Now imagine them in
the form of a square instead. Relative to the center
of the square (the s key) the e key would be at 45
degrees, the a key would be at 180 degrees, the c key
would be at 315 degrees, etc. Pressing one of these
keys will cause it to appear on the command line below
the status display. Subsequently pressing the enter
key (the carriage return) causes the letter to
disappear and the direction associated with that letter
becomes the direction weapons are aimed. The key
sequence q<CR> would aim the weapons to the upper left
corner of the screen. The program is smart enough to
average two adjacent keys when they are pressed (but
only 2) thus the key sequence az<CR> would aim weapons
in the direction half way between 180 degrees and 225
degrees (202 degrees).
Keypad Multiply = The multiply symbol on the numeric keypad will launch a
torpedo. Torpedos are area weapons. They have a
burst radius, hit value, and velocity. These values
are related to the maximum number of torpedos you set
for your ship. Torpedos have a proximity fuze and a
timer. They self destruct after about 30 seconds if
they dont hit a ship. You can also command detonate
torpedos (see Upper Case D).
Lower Case p = Phasers. Phasers are a beam weapon. They have a hit
value and recharge time. These values are related.
The faster phasers recharge the less they hit for. The
captain can select the recharge time for his phasers.
Upper Case D = Detonate the oldest torp.
